| Peter Tchaikovsky was a very unique composer, but of course a very
great one. Most of his work included orchestral works, chamber
music, operas, and some piano. The piano music of Peter
Tchaikovsky is not his strong point, but his strong point lies in his
modernistic and unique orchestral writings. Peter Tchaikovsky
wrote the nutcracker suite, one of his most famous compositions that
most people recognize him for. Tchaikovsky's creativity is
apparent for orchestral and opera type works, and this was probably his
main interest. His music style consisted of a modernistic romantic
style, not quite as modern as Rachmaninoff, but very different from
Chopin and Liszt's romantic styles. The favorite key signature of
Peter Tchaikovsky revolved around the minor key, and this resulted in
much of his music being deep, emotional, and mysterious. Some of
his music is fast, some is slow. The nutcracker is an example of
how Peter Tchaikovsky can write mysterious and slow sounding
compositions. His arrangements were unique, using the celestas as
the instrument of choice for that particular piece. Peter
Tchaikovsky was also known for his great Piano Concertos. An
example of his fast and very romantic and modernistic sounding
compositions would be these piano concertos. |
