Polyphony

Where there is midi, there is polyphony.  Polyphony simply is a term that means how many notes that can be played at the same time.  Polyphony is extremely important when it comes to recording midi.  An example of where poor polyphony can be noticed is an example of a cheap midi keyboard.  Go ahead and play a very complicated orchestra using the midi keyboard, and you will easily hear that the notes will cut out.  The max polyphony for a cheap keyboard may be 32 notes.  For a mid range midi keyboard, the polyphony may be 64 notes.  For a high quality midi keyboard, the polyphony most likely will be 128 notes.  The polyphony of my recording studio is 128 notes or more.
