If anyone has heard of Middle-earth, a book created by the well-known
writer J.R.R. Tolkien, then you sure will know Amon Amarth. Amon
Amarth is a Viking metal band from Sweden. The name Amon Amarth
means Mount Doom in Sindarin. It was taken from Tolkien's book.
This band is composed of five Swedish members. Amon Amarth is well
known for the melodic death metal theme. They have played tunes
like "The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter" and "Versus the World". So how
did Amon Amarth originate? They formed in 1988 under a completely
different name. At first, they were called Scumm, but soon after
switched to Amon Amarth in 1992. Then, they released their album
Once Sent from the Golden Hall. In 1995, their hit single "The
Arrival of the Fimbul Winter" sold 1000 copies in less than 12 hrs,
making Amon Amarth one of the most popular metal bands around. In
2004, they released The Fate of Norns in Sweden, which also became a
