 Aphex Twin Biography

Aphex Twin sounds as if it were going to be a duo, but in actuality is created by one sole composer and star:  Richard James.  He started his career like most other artists: at a young age.  How young?  Well, as a 14 year old teenager growing up in Cornwall, England, he started making recordings.  So did this Aphex Twin have someone to help him out with the recordings?  Nope.  He began learning about electronics and taking apart recording pieces when he was younger.  After he knew the ropes of the industry, he began to take his talent out into the world.  Aphex Twin became a DJ and conducted raves in his hometown.  He created his own first album titled: Selected Ambient Works 85-92 which was inspired by Acid House.  Acid House was a group from the late 1980's that Aphex Twin adored.

Aphex Twin first release was the Analogue Bubblebath EP.  This Aphex Twin label was recorded with Tom Middleton in late 1991.  It created a lot of hype and therefore Aphex Twin decided to create a second label in the Analogue Bubblebath series.

For another Aphex Twin album, Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2, Richard James was not very successful.  The music industry did not thing highly of Aphex Twin's second album.  Therefore, he decided to change his music a bit and go back to what he loved:  Acid House.  He became inspired by Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails.
