One thing that alot of artists have in
common, and Amerie is no exception, is the fact that music runs in their
families. Jessica Simpson's sister, Ashley, followed Jessica's
footsteps. Nick Lachey and Drew Lachey both pursued music in their
family. Here Amerie did the same. She was born into a
musical family: a Korean mother who loved
classical music, and an African-American father who loved R&B.
During Amerie's studies and post graduation,
she met Rich Harrison who directed and
worked with famous people like Mary J. Blige!!! Amerie and Rich
worked together and eventually landed a deal with
Rise Entertainment and, in turn, with Columbia Records.
So how famous is Amerie now? Well,
in the spring of 2002, Rise/Columbia released
Amerie's debut single, "Why Don't We Fall in Love." Afterwards, her
first album, All I Have, appeared in July. During the same time
that Amerie's first album came out, her first single had also reached
the Top 20 of the R&B/hip-hop charts and the Top 40 of the pop charts.
Talk about amazing! To hear more about Amerie, stay tuned!
