| Hillary Duff is a young teen singer and actress. Her rival is
Lindsey Lohan, and both singers are trying to compete to be the next
Britney Spears. Hillary Duff started to become popular after her
successful Lizzie McGuire show on the Disney Channel. The Lizzie
McGuire show was aimed for young teens, and about a girl who was quiet,
not very popular, but fairly confident. After Hillary Duff
obtained her name through the Lizzie McGuire show, she then tried for a
career as a pop singer and film actress. In August 2002, Hillary
Duff came out with her first single called "I Can't Wait" on the Lizzie
McGuire soundtrack, which got very good ratings. Since then,
Hillary Duff sang a number of songs, such as "So Yesterday" appealing to
the young teenage population. Hillary Duff is obviously trying to
become the next Britney Spears, and may even succeed, with her
popularity. Her theme is obviously different from Britney Spears,
her theme being, the young, innocent, and typical adolescent teenage
girl. The fact that Hillary Duff can relate to so many teenage
girls, is why she is becoming more popular. She is energetic,
youthful, and a good role model.
The appearance and influence of Hillary Duff, and most pop singers,
definitely plays a huge role in how successful she has become. For
this reason, not all of the music of Hillary Duff is high quality.
In fact, her music is very generic, yet she is successful, for the
reasons I mention above. This is very deceiving because wouldn't
most singers only get the job because of their voices or musical
abilities? Unfortunately this is how the music of today is ending
up. Appearance is everything, even if the quality of music is
poor. This is not to say Hillary Duff is not talented, or cannot
sing, however, the only reason Hillary Duff is a singer, is because of
her fame, and teenage influence. You will never see an adult
Hillary Duff audience. Most older people do not listen to any of
the teenage pop singers, such as Hillary Duff, or Lindsey Lohan, or
Britney Spears. The audience of Hillary Duff will always be young
teens.
