Being able to think of a band name is one of the most toughest things any group can do. The name they think of has to reflect on who they are, what they stand for, and what they believe in. Avenged Sevenfold captures that essence, because their group name is not only unique, but it also stands for a lot. Avenged Sevenfold was formed in the summer of 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. Their group title is based on the Biblical story of God's wrath upon Cain for killing his brother Abel.

So what does it say in the bible about the wrath upon Cain? Avenged Sevenfold has quoted many times from the book of Genesis. In this book, it says, “And the Lord said ... ‘Therefore whoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.'"

So who makes up Avenged Sevenfold? Ironically, the names of the band members of Avenged Sevenfold all have some biblical meaning. For example, the vocalist is M. Shadows, the guitarists are Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates, the drummer is called The Reverend and the bassist is called Johnny Christ . Sounds pretty creative of Avenged Sevenfold, huh? This group has been very famous over the years. They produced their first full-length album “Sounding the Seventh Trumpet," when the members were only 18 years old!!

So what is Avenged Sevenfold up to nowadays? They are currently doing tours all over the country. Avenged Sevenfold is so famous that they have toured with Shadows Fall, Mushroomhead and spent the summer of 2003 on the Warped Tour. Now how's that for excitement!
