| Three Six Mafia is a group of rap musicians, who sing about
unpleasant events. In other words, Three Six Mafia does not sing
MTV material, and their lyrics may be found offensive to some people.
Three Six Mafia was an underground rap group when they released their
first official album called Mystic Stylez. They had a very
successful underground tape which they named "Smoked Out and Loc'ed
Out." The group decided to change their name from Three Six Mafia,
to Three 6 Mafia, which is sometimes referred to 3 6 Mafia. Due to
copyright reasons, the group had to change their name again, to Triple
Six Mafia. In their 1995 single called "Live By Yo Rep" they had
accused the group Bone Thugs n Harmony of stealing their style.
The track called "All Original" by the "Art of War" album sung by the
group Bone Thugs n Harmony, supposedly was making fun of the group Three
Six Mafia. Eventually, Three Six Mafia moved on to a new style called
"crunk", which is a repetitive chanting of a particular phase.
This new style has actually helped promote the fame of Three Six Mafia,
and their song called "When the Smoke Clears" reached number 6 on the
billboard in the year 2000. |
