Mozart was an extremely talented classical composer. He
composed piano sonatas, piano concertos, symphonies, string
quartets, and much more. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was known
to compose happy music. For the most part, his music was
cheerful. The type of tunes Mozart composed were very
memorable, and he composed many melodies that most people can't
seem to get out of their head. An example of a happy
melody composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is Eine Kleine
Nachtmusik. This tune is a string serenade, and many
people, including those who do not even listen to classical
music, knows at least the beginning tune of this string
serenade. Although Mozart did write many happy tunes, he
also wrote some serious tunes as well, and these tunes are just
as wonderful. An example is his famous symphony in G
minor. The melody is memorable, and it is extremely
harmonic. This means that on top of a great horizontal
melody, the music vertically, the chords, are also beautifully
composed. Mozart did incorporate a major section, as
opposed to the minor, in this symphony. The whole symphony
is very classical style, the major is smoothly transitioned from
the minor. This major section is actually a different
theme. After this secondary theme, some variations are
played in the minor, the main theme plays again, and the
secondary theme that was once played in the major, is now minor.
Mozart was known for this format not just in this particular
symphony. The symphony in G minor is probably the most
famous symphony composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is
also safe to say that Mozart was a prolific composer.
Although he did not compose as many symphonies as Joseph Haydn,
he composed quite a bit. Not all of the symphonies of
Mozart are high quality, but the ones that are, will never be
forgotten. I must admit however, that I am not a fan of
the piano sonatas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. These are a
bit too generic sounding for me, and not really too creative.
Mozart was much better at composing for more instruments.
If you want to listen to great piano sonatas, or great piano
music, Chopin will always be the choice. |
